Why this certification?
As AI-generated texts become more common, authors need a way to show how their manuscripts took shape. Plumelin certification lets them document their writing process and share verifiable evidence linked to a specific version of their manuscript.
A documented writing process
Certification begins when an author chooses to enable a certification track in Plumelin. Evidence is recorded during writing, then checked against the certification rules. The certificate reports the evidence validated for that version. It provides a record of the process when the manuscript is shared.
Evidence you can verify
A cryptographic signature lets you check that Plumelin issued the certificate and that the signed information has not changed. This gives recipients a reference for consulting the certified details.
Connecting the certificate to your file
Each registered export has a digital fingerprint. When you choose a file, the verifier compares its fingerprint with registered exports and checks the associated certificate, including its current status. A match confirms that this is the file concerned. If verification cannot be completed, the result says so.
What certification can establish
Certification covers the process observed and the evidence actually checked by Plumelin. It cannot guarantee the absence of any AI use, the text’s originality or its author’s rights. It provides a reference for the method followed, without reducing the entire creative process to a “human” or “AI” label.
Your manuscript stays private
The file’s fingerprint is calculated on your device: only that fingerprint is sent for verification. The registry displays certificate IDs, dates and statuses. It does not publish manuscript text, private titles or authors’ personal information.
